Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has a total length of about 55 km, including a 6.7 km underwater tunnel and a 23-km bridge over the sea, making it the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world. The mega project is part of the country’s planned national highway network, and links the western and eastern banks of the Pearl River. It is to meet the demand of passenger and freight transport between the mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Construction of the bridge started on December 15, 2009 and the structure opened to traffic on October 24, 2018.

The bridge is praised as the “Mount Qomolangma” of bridges across the world, acknowledging its status in the field of bridge construction.
