Zhuhai Wenyuan Middle School in Xiangzhou, Guangdong province, joined the national list of primary and secondary science and technology education experimental schools on July 23.

This makes it one of the few institutions in the province to hold dual national titles in both general science education and specialized science and technology education.

The school has developed a distinctive science education system integrating humanities and scientific literacy, structured around a three-tier pyramid curriculum framework.

Compulsory basic courses take the lead in incorporating science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) to diversify learning content.

Meanwhile, practical elective courses run weekly technology club activities to cater to students’ individual interests, and elite innovation programs are supported by 15 specialized science and innovation laboratories, aiming for full coverage of scientific research while also cultivating innovation.

The school has also launched the POWER training mechanism and partners with universities, hospitals and enterprises to provide professional on-campus guidance, building a holistic education network covering the full chain from idea incubation to patent output.

Student tech clubs have delivered remarkable achievements in international competition. The robotics club has recorded 420 individual awards at the municipal level and above, while the aeromodelling and drone club has claimed 25 national honors for three consecutive years. Four students have been named Junior Academicians by the Chinese Youth Academy of Sciences.
