A cultural tourism venue based on the theme of the iconic Sweet Heart (Tianzaixintou) Mantou Restaurant from Shaolin Soccer started its trial operation on July 25.

Located on Guanghua Street in Shishan subdistrict of Xiangzhou, Guangdong province, its cinematic transformation has been fueled by the blockbuster performance of Stephen Chow’s Shaolin Women’s Soccer.

Released in 2001, the original Shaolin Soccer shot its iconic bustling street scenes on site, including the tai chi steamed bun-making and chaotic dance. The choice of filming locations have drawn numerous film enthusiasts to the shop from across the country over the past 25 years.

Chow’s latest work, Shaolin Women’s Soccer, has already grossed over 1.6 billion yuan ($236 million) in the first 11 days of its summer release.

During the eatery’s trial operation from 4 pm to 6 pm, the first 50 daily visitors who present their Shaolin Women’s Soccer ticket stubs can claim a free “kung fu mantou” (Chinese steamed bun).

A pop-up performance recreating classic scenes from Shaolin Soccer is also staged on site by the owner, resonating with both tourists and local residents. The initiative revitalizes the original filming site, blending cinematic heritage with local street charm.
