The 17th Guangdong Provincial Games concluded in Maoming on Aug 22, with Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai, presented with the County (District) Talent Contribution Award for its strong achievements in cultivating and developing young sports talent.

Xiangzhou ranked eighth province-wide with a total score of 2,301.32 points, with 242.87 points from gold medals, 157.67 from silver medals and 281.65 from bronze medals, demonstrating its strong talent output. Three local schools, the Xiangzhou Gree School, Zhuhai Fourth Middle School and Zhuhai NO.3 High School, also made the newly released School Seedling Award list.

The Zhuhai delegation secured 36.5 gold, 18 silver and 31 bronze medals in competitive events, posting a total team score of 2,784 points. It also received three major honors, including the sportsmanship award and two medallions for excellence (gold medal category and total score category). In mass sports events, Zhuhai won one gold, four silver and three bronze medals.

With deeper integration of sports and education in recent years, Xiangzhou has built a tiered, sustainable talent training system. It will further optimize its training framework to support the high-quality development of Zhuhai's sports sector.
