A leading large-scale high-purity silk fibroin production base in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area went into operation in Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai, on Sept 5, alongside a biomaterials summit, filling a critical gap in the region's industrial chain for beauty biotech and medical raw materials.
The 5,000-square-meter base features Good Manufacturing Practice compliant clean workshops with an annual capacity of eight tons. The company's self-developed "enzymatic hydrolysis-salting out" technology addresses long-standing industry pain points, including high pollution and excessive metal residue, achieving 99%raw material purity, 500%higher production efficiency and 70%lower costs compared to conventional methods.
At the summit, experts from top research institutions in Guangdong, Shanghai and Harbin discussed frontier applications, while the firm signed cooperation agreements with over 10 industry leaders, including Juyou and Fullerene, to build a complete industrial ecosystem.
The base marks a key step toward strengthening the bio-new materials sector. Xiangzhou will further integrate innovation, industry, capital and talent to build a nationally influential bio-new materials industrial highland.
