Six projects from Xiangzhou district in Zhuhai have won awards at the 2025 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Awards, including a first prize in the Science and Technology Progress category, covering fields such as advanced manufacturing, smart cities, food security and modern seed breeding.

Gree Electric Appliances led the district's winners with three awards. The company was awarded first prize in the Science and Technology Progress category for its pioneering project on "key technologies for high-efficiency multi-connected air conditioning units driven by real-time performance". In addition, Gree received second prize in the Technical Invention category for its nuclear safety-grade screw chiller technology, as well as another second prize in the Science and Technology Progress category for its ultra-efficient rare-earth-free reluctance motor system.

Furthermore, a project on multidimensional spectral rapid detection technology for grain quality, completed in partnership with Zhuhai Xiangzhou District Grain Depositary Company, won second prize in the Science and Technology Progress category. A project developed in conjunction with the Zhuhai Institute of Urban Planning and Design, which centered on smart cluster collaborative surveying and mapping technology, also achieved second prize in the Technical Invention category.

A project on breeding and industrial application of new ecological eggplant varieties in South China, completed with the participation of Guangdong Provincial Seed Introduction Service, won the Science and Technology Achievement Promotion Award.

The district said it will continue to support enterprises in tackling core technologies and promoting the commercialization of research results, contributing to Zhuhai's high-quality development.
