The Xiangwan Street Office, together with more than 10 public welfare units in the jurisdiction, is gearing up to hold a charity fair soon in the Xiangzhou district of Zhuhai.

It will take place on the green lawn of Haitian Park on Sept 2, as a curtain raiser to celebrate the eighth Charity Day that falls on Sept 5.

A dozen tents will be set up on site, each accommodating eight people. These will allow visitors to enjoy great stage performances, experience the fun games in the activity exhibition area and use them until the end of the event.

Ten groups of parent-child families are currently being recruited to set up their own stands and sell goods such as books, stationery, toys, accessories and handicrafts. The prices of the items should not exceed the original prices.

Twenty-four groups of families will experience art classes on site - where folks will be taught such fun things as making twisted flowers, boat bookmark weaving, homemade sachets and art coloring.

During the event, all the funds received will be deposited into the Xiangwan Public Welfare Fund account for the implementation of a care project for sick children.

This will endeavor to improve the experience of young patients at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University - and in particular help to alleviate the pressures on critically ill children and their families.
