The air+road+air international transit project via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, or the HZMB in South China, began operations on Dec 12 – bringing loads more convenience for travelers through the HZMB Zhuhai Port.

Passengers are now able to arrive at Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport and then quickly transit to Hong Kong International Airport via the HZMB for further international flights, without going through Hong Kong's entry procedures.

As a result, Zhuhai Port has also become the only port on the Chinese mainland with a land connection to Hong Kong International Airport.

Meanwhile, inbound passengers are now able to reach domestic destinations after transiting from Hong Kong International Airport via the HZMB to Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport.

Plans are for Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport to also cooperate with the SkyPier Transit Center at Hong Kong International Airport. This will attract more passengers to Zhuhai airport and it will transport them to Hong Kong airport through the HZMB to reach their final international destination.

It's expected that the project will create opportunities for business development in Zhuhai and promote cooperation among airports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

To ensure the smooth roll out of the project, dedicated inspection lanes have been set up at the HZMB's inspection station. These will introduce separate inspections for passengers, providing efficient and quality customs clearance services.

Now, passengers can also check in at Zhuhai airport and go through customs clearance at the HZMB Zhuhai Port before heading directly to Hong Kong airport.
