The fourth session of the 10th Xiangzhou district congress of the Communist Party of China was held on Jan 15, summarizing the development achievements made by Xiangzhou in 2023 and outlining the development blueprint for 2024.

Last year, Xiangzhou steadfastly promoted high-quality development and continued to step up construction on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The district is close to finalizing a system for cultivating innovative enterprises. In 2023, 16 new national-level specialized, elaborative, characteristic and emerging "little giant" small and medium-sized enterprises were added, bringing the total to 24.

The industrial output value of Nanping Science and Technology Industrial Park surpassed 100 billion yuan ($13.99 billion) for the first time in 2021 and reached 107.6 billion yuan in 2022. The number is expected to exceed 120 billion yuan in 2023.

The optoelectronic industry in Sanxi Science and Technology Innovation City accelerated its aggregation, adding 930,000 square meters of industrial carriers. The Xiangzhou production and finance platform was upgraded to the municipal level, with a total credit line exceeding 9.1 billion yuan.

The district initiated 29 education-related projects, with 17 projects being put into use, offering 14,000 new educational opportunities.

Over the past year, Xiangzhou has become more hip and youth-friendly, hosting major events such as the 2023 Xiangshan Rowing Regatta, Zhuhai Marathon and Zhuhai Fashion Week. The number of tourists received throughout the year increased by over 200 percent, and Lover's Road has become a popular destination for young people across the country.

In 2024, Xiangzhou will focus on five key tasks - vigorously promoting technological innovation, deepening the construction of the Greater Bay Area, advancing the ecological construction of beautiful Xiangzhou, focusing on improving people's well-being, and ensuring development.
