Intl students feel at home in Zhuhai's Beishan village

A micro-documentary titled "Hi Beishan - Foreign Students Narrate the Story of the High-Quality Development of Beishan Village in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province" was recently released by students from Guangdong University of Finance and Economics.

Beishan village in Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai is a village with over 780 years of history. It not only retains the charm of traditional ancient architecture but also integrates modern, international vitality.

In the 5-minute film, foreign student Phil leads us on an exploration of Beishan village ‘s unique path toward international development in. The film showcases not only the popular spots in the village, but also, through the stories of four individuals working and living in Beishan, explains why the village attracts many young people to return for entrepreneurship and why it has become a hub for international youth from Hong Kong, Macao, and around the world.

Wu Chengxuan, an entrepreneur from Hong Kong, is one of the many individuals attracted to Beishan. He expressed, "In Beishan, I feel a deep cultural identity, with a unique commercial environment and a mature business atmosphere."

Sana from the United States has been living and working in Beishan for 15 years. "Beishan is both modern and innovative, while also preserving ancient Chinese traditional values, blending old and new cultures seamlessly."

Sana's words echo the many other foreigners who choose to live in Beishan. Today, Beishan village has over 220 merchants, with a daily footfall exceeding 20,000 visitors, 30 percent of whom are young people from Hong Kong, Macao, and various other parts of the world.

Beishan village has become a model rural area embodying "Chinese-style modernization," showcasing the unique development path of traditional Chinese villages in the modernization process. What was once a humble village has now become an important gateway for China to engage with the world.
