A list of national-level characteristic industry clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2024 was announced recently. The printing equipment and consumables industry cluster in the Xiangzhou district of Zhuhai made it onto the list – becoming the first SMEs characteristic industry cluster in the city to receive a national-level honor.

In recent years, Xiangzhou district has focused on enhancing the professionalization, specialization and cluster development level of its SMEs.

As a key birthplace of the high-end printing equipment and consumables industries, Xiangzhou is said to stand out as one of the largest regions in the field globally. That's in terms of the scale, completeness of the industry supply chain and technological advancement in its high-end printing equipment and consumables industries.

The total output value of the industry cluster hit 6.15 billion yuan ($876 million) in 2023, with an average annual growth rate of 18.52 percent recorded over the past three years.

The selection demonstrates the comprehensive strength and regional characteristics of Xiangzhou in the field of printing equipment and consumables. It has a crucial role in promoting the high-quality development of SMEs and in constructing a modern industrial system in Xiangzhou.
