Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge exceeds 20m passengers annually

As of Oct 4 this year, the total number of passengers entering and exiting through the Zhuhai Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has surpassed 20 million, an 86 percent year-on-year increase, surpassing last year's annual total. This marks the first time since the bridge's opening that the annual passenger volume has exceeded 20 million.

The increasing number of travelers from Hong Kong and Macao is driving the rapid growth of the port traffic. This year, the number of Hong Kong and Macao travelers passing through this port reached 12 million, an 83.3 percent increase year-on-year, accounting for 60.2% of the total port traffic.

The transportation advantages of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge combined with the implementation of convenient entry and exit policies have made the Zhuhai Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge one of the most popular and convenient channels for Hong Kong and Macao residents to enter and exit the mainland.

The sustained popularity of mainland tours to Hong Kong and Macao has become another major factor driving passenger flow growth at the Zhuhai Port. The number of mainland tourists has exceeded 3.86 million this year, a 76.6 percent year-on-year increase.

With the further popularity of Guangdong- Hong Kong- Macao Bay Area tourism, tourism products centered around the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge are increasingly favored by domestic tourists.

As China continues optimizing visa policies for foreign nationals, the Zhuhai Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the mainland's only port with direct land access to Hong Kong International Airport, is becoming an important gateway for many overseas tourists to explore China.

This year, over 310,000 foreign tourists have entered and exited the mainland through the Zhuhai Port, a significant increase of 185.5 percent year-on-year.
