Xiangzhou ranks among top 100 high-quality development districts

A domestically influential think tank recently released an annual report, unveiling the list of the top 100 municipal districts for high-quality development in China. Among the findings, Xiangzhou district in Zhuhai secured the 22nd spot.

The released rankings assessed the level of high-quality development in districts based on comprehensive indicators, innovative development, coordinated development, green development, open development, shared development, and secure development.

Xiangzhou district serves as the main urban area of Zhuhai and is the landing point of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge in Zhuhai. In the first three quarters of 2024, Xiangzhou district achieved a regional GDP of 144.7 billion yuan ($20.2 billion), marking a 3 percent year-on-year growth.

Notably, the industrial sector maintained robust growth, with the district's industrial value-added surpassing 49.61 billion yuan in the first three quarters, reflecting an 8.1 percent year-on-year increase.

The district also witnessed a substantial increase in goods import and export volumes. The total foreign trade volume reached 86.12 billion yuan in the first three quarters, marking a 16.8 percent year-on-year increase.

Xiangzhou district demonstrated outstanding performance in other national evaluations. In the "2024 CCID Top 100 Districts" list, Xiangzhou secured the 30th position nationwide, climbing six spots compared to the previous year. On the same list, Xiangzhou had the highest urbanization rate, at 43.8 percent.
