As the Chinese New Year is approaching, the Talents Service Office of the Organization Department of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee, Zhuhai Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, Zhuhai Municipal Public Security Bureau, Zhuhai Foreign Affairs Office and Xiangzhou District Nanping Town People's Government jointly held a Chinese New Year Flower Arranging Event for Expats in Zhuhai on January 11, 2025. 

More than 40 foreign friends and their families from the USA, the UK, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Colombia, Turkmenistan, Japan, Russia, Norway, Ukraine and Pakistan gathered together to make New Year kumquat trees and experience the Spring Festival couplets writing. They immersed themselves completely in the charm of the Chinese traditional culture and enjoyed the vibrant and festive atmosphere of the Spring Festival.

Mr. Huang Zhenqiu, vice mayor of Zhuhai Municipal People's Government, attended the event. Then, Mr. Huang Nanyin, director of Zhuhai Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, greeted the guests with best wishes for the coming new year. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the guests for their great contributions and his sincere hope that all foreign professionals will keep dedicated to the development of Zhuhai, integrating their personal career pursuits into Zhuhai’s practice of Chinese-style modernization to jointly create a more wonderful future where talents and the city grow together and reinforce each other.

Then, three expat representatives from MTU Maintenance Zhuhai Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Pinto Food Co., Ltd. and Zhuhai International School (ZIS) respectively shared their working and living experiences in Zhuhai. “My wife is a Zhuhai native. Together with our 6-year-old son, we really enjoy living in this beautiful city”, said Steffen Kunth from MTU Zhuhai. “Zhuhai has become our second home”.

Taking the kumquat tree as a medium, this event not only offers foreign friends in Zhuhai an opportunity to experience the traditional customs of the Spring Festival and immerse themselves in the unique charm of fine traditional Chinese culture, but also promotes people-to-people exchanges through cultural integration, which greatly enhances their sense of identity and belonging.
