On July 30, Gree Electric Appliances achieved a major technological breakthrough, with two of its innovations recognized as globally leading, including one "world-first" technology.

Gree's "New High-Efficiency Rotary Cylinder Volumetric Refrigerant Pump and Computer Room Air Conditioner" and "Multi-Adaptive Wide-Frequency High-Efficiency Rotary Compressor and Air Conditioner" passed a scientific and technological appraisal organized by the China National Light Industry Council. The refrigerant pump was certified as "internationally pioneering" (world-first), while both technologies were rated as globally leading.

Fluorine pump air conditioners are a key energy-saving appliance for data centers due to their elimination of gaseous refrigerant compression. After a decade of research, Gree developed the world's first rotary cylinder volumetric refrigerant pump. This innovation doubles the head range compared to existing technology and boosts efficiency by 1 to 5 times. It solves the global challenge of gas-liquid two-phase operation, overcoming the low efficiency and poor operational adaptability of traditional refrigerant pumps.

"Compressors and pumps have been areas where China historically followed developed nations," said Li Jiang, president of the China Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Industry Association. "Gree's rotary cylinder refrigerant pump represents an innovation, a breakthrough – a transition from follower to leader," Li added

Gree's Multi-Adaptive Wide-Frequency High-Efficiency Rotary Compressor tackles industry-wide low efficiency problems across wide frequency ranges and poor high-frequency reliability. It achieves an ultra-wide frequency range of 1-200 Hz, far exceeding the industry standard of 15-120 Hz.

This breakthrough enables rapid cooling/heating at high frequencies for enhanced comfort, and precise, stable low cooling output at low frequencies, maintaining room temperature fluctuation within a range of ±0.3 ℃. Compared to internationally advanced technologies, the compressor improves full-frequency efficiency by 5 percent, increases seasonal energy efficiency of air conditioners by 10 percent, and boosts low-temperature heating capacity by 15 percent, with no heating degradation, even at -15 ℃.

Amidst the global push to achieve the "dual carbon" goals and industrial upgrading, Gree's achievements underscore that independent innovation is not only the lifeline of enterprises but also the core engine propelling the rise of Chinese manufacturing.
