Located at the southern end of Zhuhai's Xiangzhou district, Gongbei is the only subdistrict on the Chinese mainland connected to both Hong Kong and Macao via land bridges. Gongbei's dining scene is bustling year-round. During the 2025 May Day holiday, the Fuhuali business district recorded an average daily traffic of 80,000, up 14 percent year-on-year, with visitors from Hong Kong and Macao making up 35 percent of the total. Covering an area of 13.31 square kilometers and serving a population of 320,000, Gongbei's population density continues to rise. Gongbei's nightlife economy is dynamic and diverse, ranging from vibrant street markets such as the Xiawan Night Market and Huaping Road Food Street, to stylish music bars, pubs, and spas. Among nighttime consumers, 20–35-year-olds account for 65 percent, while cross-border travelers make up about 20 percent. Gongbei has now become one of the Greater Bay Area's most popular nighttime consumption destinations. With nighttime spending growing at an annual rate of 18 percent, the district transforms into a sea of dazzling lights and lively crowds after dark.

Business environment in Gongbei

Gongbei has seen a cross-border throughput of 180 million people in 2025 — up 4.65 percent year-on-year. Gongbei Port, China's largest land port, sees an average of over 500,000 crossings daily, surging to 800,000 during holidays.

Today, Gongbei is not only Zhuhai's most important commercial platform linking Hong Kong, Macao and Southwest China, but also a dazzling "commercial pearl" in the ongoing integration of the Greater Bay Area.
