The "southbound travel for Guangdong vehicles" policy is striving for implementation in November.

It will simultaneously implement two parts: the automated carparks of the airport authority Hong Kong at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the entry into the urban area.

In the initial phase, Guangdong private cars can stay in Hong Kong for several days per trip, with the exact number of days to be determined, and an initial daily quota of 100 vehicles. Vehicles must purchase insurance before traveling to Hong Kong, and drivers must exchange for a Hong Kong driving license per the requirements of the northbound travel scheme.

Two automated car parks will be put into service in November. Among them, the "park & fly" car park will initially provide approximately 1,800 spaces. Additionally, the Airport Authority Hong Kong plans to launch the "park & visit" car park in the first half of 2026. Local shopping malls and car parks in Hong Kong have also prepared, providing standard EV charging facilities for southbound vehicles.

Meanwhile, the northbound travel scheme is being continuously optimized. From Sept 1, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, northbound travel vehicles can travel to Guangdong via the HZMB without prior booking (excluding designated days: public holidays and their eves).
