Xiangzhou district in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, was visited 1.19 million times during the five-day May Day holiday, with a single-day peak of 350,000 visits on May 2, local authorities reported.

The scenic Lovers' Road corridor alone was visited 962,000 time, while the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge tour proved especially popular among travelers from Hong Kong and Macao, drawing over 5,000 visitors with bookings fully sold out from May 1 to 4.

The surge was fueled in part by the "Northbound Travel" policies for Hong Kong and Macao vehicles, with Zhuhai's border checkpoints recording an all-time high of 875,400 crossings on May 2.

The district offered 49 cultural, tourism, sports and commercial activities across five themed zones. Highlights included a national tide-themed garden event with traditional performances held at night, the Beishan Music Season blending creative markets and light electronic music, and a lion dance competition featuring top teams from six cities including Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen.

A newly opened Chinese white dolphin exhibition combining science education with interactive entertainment also debuted during the holiday.
